No catch. Free forever. Owo Planner is not a bank — we don't custody your money, so we don't earn from transactions or yield. The core money OS stays free. Any future premium tier would only be for advanced power features.
How is Owo Planner different from PiggyVest, Cowrywise, Risevest, or mypenny?
Those apps want to be your bank — they hold your money and earn from custody. Owo Planner is the planning layer above them. We help you decide which to use, plan how much to send, and track everything in one dashboard. Your money stays where it is.
Does Owo Planner connect to my Nigerian bank?
Not today — entry is manual. Optional opt-in bank-connect via Mono is on the public roadmap for Q3 2026. We'll never read your accounts without explicit consent.
Is my financial data safe?
Yes. All data is encrypted and stored securely in Supabase with row-level security. We never share your figures with third parties or sell your data. You can delete your account and all data at any time from the dashboard. See the privacy policy for the details.
How it works
What's Owo AI and how does it work?
Owo AI reads your real budget + spending and gives plain-English Naija advice — calibrated to your city (Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano, Ibadan, and beyond). Live now in the dashboard, powered by Gemini 2.5 with Anthropic Claude as fallback. You can also connect Owo Planner to your own Claude or ChatGPT via MCP.
What is MCP and why does Owo Planner support it?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard for connecting AI assistants to live data. Owo Planner publishes an MCP endpoint so your existing Claude or ChatGPT can read your real budget and answer questions like "can I afford ₦400k rent next month?" without you copy-pasting numbers.
How does the city-calibrated budget work?
Tell Owo Planner where you live and we adjust default budget categories — rent ratios, transport, food, school fees — to match local cost-of-living. Lagos and Abuja have different rent maths than Ibadan or Enugu. We don't pretend Nigeria is one city.
Can I track side-hustle income, freelancing, or lumpy earnings?
Yes. Owo Planner handles multiple income streams — salary, side-hustle, freelance, ajo turns, USD client invoices — and shows you an averaged buffer so a thin month doesn't kill your plan.
Comparisons & products
Does the planner help me decide between T-bills, mutual funds, and dollar funds?
Yes — Owo AI explains the trade-offs in plain Naija English based on your real numbers, and Owo Academy teaches the underlying maths (T-bills, mutual funds, Cowrywise vs Risevest, dollar hedge). We don't sell any of these — we point you to the right tool for your goal.
Does Owo Planner support ajo / esusu contributions?
Yes. You can log ajo (esusu) contributions and turns. The planner shows you when your turn lands and treats the payout as a future inflow you can plan against — rent, school fees, that big-ticket Tokunbo car.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Owo Planner publishes the Open Financial Standard (OFS) — your full budget exports as portable JSON. Re-import into another tool, read it with your own scripts, or back it up locally. No lock-in. Ever.
What is the Open Financial Standard?
OFS is an open specification for portable Naira financial data, published by Owo Planner. The schema covers income, expenses, goals, and projections. Free to read, free to implement. Any other Nigerian fintech can adopt it so your data stays yours when you switch tools. Read the spec.
Diaspora & advanced
Does Owo Planner work for the diaspora?
Yes. Diaspora mode displays your whole dashboard in USD, GBP, CAD, or EUR with live Naira rates. Built for UK-Naija, US-Naija, and Canada-Naija sending money home or planning a return.
Can I save for a Japa fund?
Yes. Goal pots include a Japa Fund template — visa fees, tuition, 6-month runway. You set the target in £ / $ / CAD / EUR and Owo Planner shows you the Naira maths and realistic timelines based on your real income.
Can I use Owo Planner on my phone?
Yes. Owo Planner is a Progressive Web App — install it from the browser on iOS and Android. No app-store download required. Install it from your browser — no app store needed. Once installed, your dashboard opens even without data (everything is stored on your device) and syncs when you reconnect.
Is there a public roadmap?
Yes. The public roadmap lists what we're building and when. Feature requests shape what ships next — email us and we read every message.
Team & contact
How do I get help or contact the team?
Email [email protected]. Real reply, real human, usually within 24 hours. Feature requests welcome — many shipped features came from user emails.
Who built Owo Planner?
Olugbami Jide, a Lagos-based fintech builder. Owo Planner is independent — no VC, no banking partner, no custody licence to defend. The team is a small group of Nigerian engineers who use the product daily.
Still have a question?
Email goes to a real Nigerian engineer, not a triage queue. We usually reply within 24 hours.
